Minecraft Server - Setting Up a Server
Setting up your own Minecraft server allows multiplayer games to persist beyond a single gaming session. It's not really that hard to do, either. The links in the Online Resources section provide some good tutorials and pointers (including other operating systems). In my situation, I chose to set the server up on OpenSuSE 13.1..
My Requirements
These were the requirements for this project:
- Server running on OpenSuSE 13.1
- Local LAN access only (for now)
- plain 'vanilla' Minecraft - no mods (yet)
Note - this Minecraft Servers is not compatible with Minecraft PE clients, such as iPad or iPhone. For information on setting up a Minecraft PE Server, check out Minecraft Server PE - Setting Up a Server
